WALLEYE ANGLERS TRAIL (W.A.T.) TO HAVE SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP
TOURNAMENT IN DUBUQUE, IA.

Bellevue, IA-Twenty-five Walleye Anglers Trail (W.A.T.) teams will take to the Mississippi River on Saturday, October 4th  and Sunday, October 5th for a 2-person, 2-day Walleye fishing tournament.

Two person teams will launch from the Schmitt Harbor Boat Ramp on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00a.m. daily.  Weigh-in on will be at 3:00p.m. daily at the Boat Ramp.  The public is invited to view the weigh-in.

Teams earned entry for this 2-day tournament based on the results obtained in four prior qualifying events held this spring and fall.  Tournaments were held on March 15th-16th, 2003 at Spring Valley, IL on the Illinois River, on April 5th-6th, 2003 at Genoa, WI on the Mississippi River, on June 21st-22nd, 2003 at LaCrosse, WI on the Mississippi River and on September 20th-21st, 2003 at Trempealeau, WI on the Mississippi River.

According to Executive Tournament Director Harold Miller Jr., qualifying for the Season Championship was intense.  At the final event at Trempealeau, WI, 31 teams had a shot at the top 25 qualifying spots.  The 25 teams that qualified displayed their skill of being able to catch fish at 4 different locations and consistently bring fish to the scales at each event.  Their loyalty to the Walleye Anglers Trail gives them a chance to compete for over $3000.00 in cash and prizes at the Season Championship. Top finishers in the Season Championship will be competing for Cabela’s National Team Walleye Championship Tournament invitations for the tournament to be held in June of 2004.

The Cabela’s National Team Walleye Championship is the largest Team Walleye Tournament in the World.  The 2003 event awarded cash and prizes worth approximately $144,000.00
