The 15th Annual Oregon Governor's Cup was held Labor Day Weekend, September 2nd and 3rd in Umatilla Oregon. This walleye tournament is the 3rd and final tournament held each year in the Columbia River Walleye Circuit. All three tournaments are catch and release. Tournaments are entered as two person teams. This year 44 teams participated from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. In two days 119 walleye were weighed in with an average weigh of 5.33# per fish. On Saturday 48 fish were weighed in. Sunday 71 fish were weighed in. The Tournament Results were as follows. 1st 43.12# John & Jacob Grubenhoff, Pasco WA $2843.00 + A guided trip with Hells Canyon Sport Fishing. 2nd 42.40# Gerald & Danny Wright, Pasco WA & Eugene OR $1,672.00 3rd 40.38# Bob Crow of Patterson, Kimo Gabriel of Hermiston $1,212.00 4th 38.20# Larry Adams of Kimberly ID, Mike Chupa of Twin Falls $962 5th 29.52# Don Weisz of Pasco, Terri Kutrowski of Kennewick $1,054.00 Includes Sat. 2nd Big Fish 10.32# 6th 27.46# Bob Jacobsen of Moses Lake, Rick Sawyer of Ritzville $793 Saturday Big Fish 11.02# Bob & Christine Jones of Maple Valley WA Sunday Big Fish 12.00# Roger Marlow of Spokane, Doug Allen of Yakima Sunday 2nd Big Fish, 10.28# Wes Midgarden of New Castle WA, And Tim Barnes Castle Rock WA Bobby Jacobsen also received the "Fisherman of the Year" award from the Columbia River Walleye Circuit for accumulating the most points for the year. They received $1000 from the circuit, $500 from Smoker Craft Boats, and $500 from the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce, for a total of $2000 in added money.
