 2001 Montana Walleye Circuit Canyon Ferry Results

  COVAS, SIMMONS CAPTURE CROWN AT CANYON FERRY WALLEYE FESTIVAL  

McAlister fishermen Steve Covas and Chris Simmons racked up 12.77 pounds of walleyes on the first day and added 8.84 the second day to easily win the Canyon Ferry Walleye Festival on June 21-22 with a total of 21.61 pounds.

That total outdistanced defending champions Zak TeSoro, of Belgrade, and Kyle Sando, of Bozeman, who won the event last year and came in as runnersup this time around with 15.04 pounds.

The Walleyes Unlimited of Montana Circuit event attracted 121 teams. Here are the top finishers:

1. Steve Covas-Chris Simmons, McAlister, 21.61 pounds. 
2. Zak TeSoro, Belgrade-Kyle Sando, Bozeman, 15.04. 
3. Dan LaPierre, Dillon-Skip Waldorf, Butte, 11.52. 
4. Dennis Schroeder-Charles Johnson, Belgrade, 11.34. 
5. Art Sobczak, McAlister-Donald Gessner, ADA, 10.69. 
6. Robert Mills-Ted Gasvoda, Great Falls, 10.02. 
7. Carl Seilstad, Roy-Bill Combs, Grass Range, 9.98. 
8. Tim McAlpine, Helena-Darrell Kruger, Tea, 9.4. 
9. Jim Rettig, Big Sandy-Randy Redfern, Billings, 9.36. 
10. Steve King-Lance Bethel, Great Falls, 9.35.
