The Illinois Walleye Trail 2002 season, Sponsored by Ranger Boats and Cabelas started Sunday
11/11/01 on the Illinois River Henry, IL.
58 teams from Iowa, Wisconsin,
Indiana, and Illinois found the Illinois River dropping its water level with improving water clarity.
Surface water temp was in the 54 degree range.
The winning weight came
from the Henniker area of the river pulling crank baits. Fish was also taken on jigs and minnows.
The team of John Malzof, Congerville and Steven Rudd from Canton
captured first place with 14# 10 ounces, along with a check for $2,520.00 they also had big fish 3#13.5 ounce paying an
additional $560.00.
Second place honors went to
the team of Dan Grapentheiu, Lansing IL. and Kurt Schoettle Dyer, Ind. with 12# 11 ounces.
Third place went to Steve Lotz, Lena, IL. and David
Daughenbaugh, McConnell, IL. with 11# 11.5 ounces.
The next tournament will be conducted December 2, 2991 at Spring Valley, Il.
