Spring Valley Results December 2, 2001
With water temperatures dropping into the forty degree range, the Illinois sauger bite is
improving.
The Illinois Walleye Trail conducted its second tournament of the 2002
season at Spring Valley on Sunday, December 2. Fifty five teams competed from Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana and Illinois.
The team of Steve Leslein from Dubuque, Iowa
and Kenny Tonelli from Spring Valley, Illinois, won the tournament with 17# 14 ounces, winning $2400.00.
Placing second from Dalzell, Illinois, the team of Joe Tonozzi
and Dick Mariani, with 16# 4.5 ounces took home a check for $1355.00.
The Dalzot brothers, John and Gary, from Spring Valley, Illinois placed third with 15# 6.0 ounces
for $795.00.
Rounding out the top five, in fourth place Troy Nelson and Scott Hastings, from Lombard, Illinois with 14# 12ounces, and in fifth place from Sparland, Illinois
and St. Charles, Illinois, Rick Parrott and Mike Tatera with 14# even.
Big fish honors of the tournament earning $550.00 went to the team of Bob Rachowicz and Dan
Frericks from Peoria, Illinois, 4# 13.5 ounces.
The tournament stats had 24 limits, for 209 total fish caught and released, for a total weight of 417# or a 2 # average.
