The Walleye Anglers Trail kicked off our 2001 season with a Tournament March 10-11 at Spring Valley, IL. Fishing on the Illinois River.

According to Executive Tournament Director-Harry Miller Jr. Rising muddy water conditions keep the bite slow. 

After 10 cancellations, The Walleye Anglers Trail fielded 31 two-man teams. The teams fished 7:00a.m. - 4:00p.m. on Saturday and 7:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. on Sunday. Over 250 Walleye/Sauger were brought to the scales. 

The results are as follows: 

1st Place-Baracani/Culjan 31.40 lbs $1250.00
2nd Place-Leslein/Mellenkamp 29.55 lbs $890.00
3rd Place-Dalzot/Dalzot 27.50 lbs $640.00
4th Place-Ernat/Ernat 27.07 lbs $360.00
5th Place-Schmerbach/Glynn 26.04 lbs $290.00
6th Place-Menkel/Manusich 25.01 lbs $135.00.

Big Fish both days to the team of Leslien/Mellenkamp. Saturday with a Sauger weighing 4.04lbs, Sunday with a Sauger weighing 4.21lbs. Cash prize of $240.00 each day.

All Walleye Anglers Trail Tournaments are qualifying events for the Cabela's  National team Walleye Championship.
