Columbia River Walleye Circuit Results March 23-24, 2000

The 12th Annual Smoker Craft / Sylvan Marine Spring Walleye Classic was held March 23rd and 24th in Boardman Oregon. One Hundred and Fourteen fishermen and women fished the catch and release event. This was the second year the tournament was held in Boardman. In the past this event has taken place in Irrigon.

Thirteen walleye were weighed in on Saturday by ten teams. Three of the fish weighed in at more than ten pounds. The total weight of all the fish weighed on Saturday was 102.36#. The average weight of Saturday's fish was 7.87#.

On Sunday 7 fish were weighed in for a total weight of 53.96#. Making the average weight 7.71# per fish. Two of the fish weighed over ten pounds. Seven teams weighed fish on Sunday. 

The total payout for the weekend was $15,140.00 in prize money. 1st place also received a fishing trip up Hells Canyon from Hells Canyon Sport Fishing. Hells Canyon Sport Fishing will be providing a fishing trip to all of the first place fishermen in all three-circuit tournaments.

Smoker Craft / Sylvan Boat Company paid out a $2,000 bonus to first place. 

This tournament is the first in a 3 tournament circuit called the "Columbia River Walleye Circuit". The next tournament is the "High Desert Marine Walleye Derby". It will be held July 13th & 14th in Boardman. The last tournament "The Oregon Governors Cup" will be held on Sept 7th & 8th in Umatilla. At the last tournament a $1,500 bonus will be paid to the fishermen accumulating the most points throughout the three tournaments.
