Walleye Angler Trail LaCrosse Results June 8-9, 2002

  BREMMER & WATSON LAND 6 FISH EACH DAY TO WIN THE 2002 LACROSSE, WI WALLEYE ANGLERS TRAIL (W.A.T.) TOURNAMNET.

LACROSSE, WI-34 Walleye Anglers Trail(W.A.T.) teams ventured north to LaCrosse, WI for the 3rd tournament of the 2002 Season. The teams fished pools 7, 8 & 9 of the Mississippi River for a 2-day 2-man tournament, June 8th & 9th.

34 teams launched Saturday and Sunday morning from the 7th Street boat ramp. The team of Galen Bremmer, Avoca, WI and Tim Watson, Blue River, WI brought in 40.89 lbs. to claim 1st place and the cash payout of $1370.00. Big Fish of the tournament was brought in by the team of Kevin Oyen, Dubuque, IA & John Marshall, Dubuque, IA, on Saturday, a walleye weighing 10.07 lbs. for $160.00.

2nd: 27.55 lbs.-Maury Schmerbach, Dubuque, IA / Mike Glynn, Dubuque, IA -$980.00

3rd: 19.80 lbs.-Kevin Oyen, Dubuque,IA / John Marshall, Dubuque, IA -$590.00

4th: 18.28 lbs.-Bryon Christianson, DeSoto,WI / Rich Davidson, Genoa,WI -$350.00

5th: 16.51 lbs.-Kenneth Kramer, Holmen, WI / Larry Erickson, LaCrosse, WI -$270.00

6th: 14.41 lbs.-Scott Strangstalien, Coon Valley, WI / Steve Tauscher, Holmen, WI -$200.00

7th Place: 14.31 lbs.-Tom Oldenburg, Hokah, MN / Curt Henderson, LaCrescent, MN-$150.00

According to Executive Tournament Director Harry Miller Jr. and Assistant Tournament Director Robert Schmerbach, teams were greeted with a rising, muddy Mississippi River to deal with. The first place catch of over 40 pounds speaks highly of the skills of the W.A.T. fisherman and the proves how great the Mississippi River is at producing Walleyes.

The Walleye Anglers Trail now heads to Trempealeau, WI for tournament number four of the season on September 14th & 15th, 2002. The Trempealeau event will determine top 20 teams that will be invited to the Walleye Anglers Trail Season Championship to be held on September 28th & 29th, 2002 in Bellevue, IA on the Mississippi River, pools 12,13,14.

All Walleye Anglers Trail events are qualifying events for the Cabela's National Team Walleye Championship event. Membership is required to fish in Walleye Angler's Trail events
