Illinois Walleye Trail
Father and son team, wins season final, 2-day Walleye Tournament.
Mark Actis, Sr, and Mark Actis Jr, of Spring Valley, Illinois, wins the 2-day state final at Lake
Shelbyville. The tournament field found Lake Conditions, with high murky water, with water
temperatures in the 78-degree range.
The father and son team caught their fish around the 9th street ramp, using 1/4 ounce jigs, and
crawlers. Fishing in about 12 foot of water. Their total weight for the 2-day tournament was 12 pounds, 9.5 ounces, earning them a check for
$925.00 plus a $1,000.00 gift certificate, from Ranger boats.
They also got big fish honors, along with father and son team of the year. Their big fish weighed 4# 12.5 ounces,
earning them an additional $160.00.
Placing 2nd, was Bill Walsh, from Ottawa, and Chris Elzer from Shelbyville, with 11# 0.5 ounces, earning them $540.00.
Rounding out the top 3 was Max Actis, and Mike Stuckert, from Spring Valley, with 8# 13.5 ounces, for $235.00. Max, and
Mike, also captured, the Walleye Anglers of the Year, with the highest points, earning them
$920.00.
Runners-up were the team, of Bill Walsh, and Chris Elzer, for $230.00.
This completes, the Illinois Walleye Trail, for the 2002 season.
Our 2003, season, will start with the 2nd Annual, Illinois Governors Cup, on the Illinois River. October, 26, 27, 2002.
