Kerr & Kerr Win at FLW League Saginaw Bay by FLW Walleye League
 

KERR, KERR WIN WAL-MART FLW WALLEYE LEAGUE EVENT ON SAGINAW BAY

AU GRES, Mich. (July 25, 2005) - Boater  Jason Kerr of Holly and his father, co-angler Terry Kerr of Grand Blanc combined for a total of five walleyes weighing 30 pounds, to claim victory at the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League Michigan Division tournament held Saturday on Saginaw Bay. Jason claimed $2,520 for the win, with Terry earning $1,260.

Kerr and KerrThe father and son duo were randomly paired together and called the win a "blessing", as they caught their walleyes late in the day trolling crawler harnesses in 30 feet of water.

Finishing second were Jason Kaniszewski of Au Gres ($1,296) and Todd Shirkman of Gibraltar ($648) with five walleyes weighing 27 pounds, 1 ounce. Scott Koenigsfeld of Three Rivers ($1,080) and John Chapo of Grass Lake ($540) caught five walleyes weighing 25 pounds, 14 ounces to finish third. Mike Jurik of Saginaw ($936) and Joseph Manenti of Troy ($468) claimed fourth place with five walleyes that weighed 24 pounds, 8 ounces. Finishing fifth were Keith Krych of Saint Clair Shores ($648 plus $200 bonus) and Erik Furseth of Okemos ($324) thanks to a five-walleye catch that weighed 22 pounds, 8 ounces.

The Michigan Division's next event will be the Super Tournament presented by Evinrude August 6-7 on Saginaw Bay. Boaters and co-anglers who finish in the top 35 in final points standings in each FLW Walleye League division will advance to the no-entry-fee $115,000 Wal-Mart FLW League Finals Sept. 8-10 on the Mississippi River in Winona, Minn. The winning boater at the finals will receive an Evinrude-or Yamaha-powered Ranger 621 boat. Every angler who receives weight credit in a tournament earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 points for second, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 298 to second, and so on.

FLW Walleye League boaters and co-anglers fish together for a combined boat weight, with boaters competing against other boaters and co-anglers fishing against other co-anglers.
