MWC Lake Erie Day 1 Follow Up by Walleye Central

Janny and Papineau take Day 1 Lead at the
Cabela's MWC event on Lake Erie out of Dunkirk, NY.

FreeByrdDay 1 is in the books and it was a Lake Erie rodeo with strong SSW winds 15-20 MPH kicking up solid 2'-4' waves (and larger).

Most teams seemed to be pulling spinner blades and crawler harnesses "low and slow" in deep water ranging from 40' - 60' and running 4-8 miles offshore.

The heavy waves made it tough work to keep larger fish on and a lot of teams were whispering about losing big fish early in the day only to end up weighing smaller “keepers” to make the 5 fish limit.

Weather conditions are not looking promising for a Saturday launch with WSW winds ranging 14-20 MPH predicted.

Sunday is reserved as a “Blow Day” in the event that weather prohibits a Saturday launch.

Weigh in starts at 3PM EST
