The Texas Walleye Association recently held its first ever November tourney at Lake Meredith, and the result was some really impressive fish.

The preceding week had been extremely windy making pre-fishing almost impossible, and a cold front the night before the tournament made most teams believe the bite would be tough.

They were right as only four 5 fish limits were weighed in, but the fish that were caught were exceptional as the average fish among the top 5 finishers averaged 3 lbs each!

Jim O’Connor of Amarillo and Ed Rodriguez of Fritch topped the field with 5 fish weighing a whopping 17.53 lbs. to take home $500.

Kevin and Kalin Audrain of Fritch took 2nd and $300 with 5 fish weighing 15.43 lbs. The Audrains also took the big fish pot of $100 with a nice 5.33 lb walleye.

Hank McWilliams of Fritch and John McWilliams of Borger finished 3rd with 5 fish weighing 13.88 lbs after a .12 dead fish penalty.

4th place went to J.D. and Corina Carr of Fritch with 5 fish weighing 13.05 lbs after a .12 dead fish penalty.

Robert Reining of Panhandle and Brett Mills were 5th with 4 fish weighing 10.43 lbs.

Dan Turner of Dumas and David Turner of Bristow, Oklahoma took 6th with 3 fish weighing 10.20 after a .24 lb dead fish penalty.

In 7th were Donnie Bell and Arvin Cowan of Frich with 4 fish weighing 9.55 lbs.

Jeff Alexander of Fritch and Ron Alexander of Plains, Kansas were 8th with 3 fish weighing 6.52 lbs.

9th went to Jim and James Welch with 1 nice fish weighing 3.57 lbs.

Mark Murphy and Monty Murphy of Woodward, Oklahoma came in at 10th with 1 fish weighing 1.20 lbs.

For a fall tourney, the release rate back into the lake was excellent.

The TWA will resume its 2006 Schedule next spring with tournaments at:
Conchas, NM on April 22
Canton Oklahoma on May 6
Lake Meredith on May 20
TWA Classic Championship on June 24-25 at Lake Meredith.

Teams must have fished two of the one day tournaments to qualify for the Championship.
