| | GANASKI wins Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League WISCONSIN DIVISION event on THE WOLF RIVER
WINNECONNE, Wis. (June 2, 2007) – Brian Ganaski of Rosholt, Wis., caught five walleyes weighing 15 pounds, 3 ounces and earned $6,510 Saturday as winner of the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League Wisconsin Division event on the Wolf River. The victory placed Ganaski one step closer to qualifying for the Walleye League Finals on the Mississippi River in Moline, Ill., Sept. 13-15. Ganaski’s co-angler, Raymond Chase of Friendship, Wis., earned $3,255 for the win.
Up until today, the fishing on the Wolf River had been amazing. With a few storm fronts rolling through the area on Saturday, it made the bite a little more challenging.
Rounding out the top five are Kevin Adams of Shawano, Wis., who earned $3,022.50 plus a $400 contingency bonus, and co-angler Michael Ledvina of Manitowoc, Wis., who earned $1,511.50. The team tied for second with Thomas Shack of Salem, Wis., who earned $3,022.50 and co-angler Robert Miller of Nekoosa, Wis., who earned $1,511.50 plus a $200 contingency bonus (five walleyes, 13 pounds, 4 ounces) ;Tom Hoinacki of Waupun, Wis., who earned $2,325 plus $300 contingency bonus, and co-angler June Challoner of Friendship, Wis., who earned $1,163 (five walleyes, 12 pounds, 13 ounces) and Greg Aldridge of Eau Claire, Wis., who earned $1,880 and co-angler Jason Krueger of Stratford, Wis., who earned $930 plus a $100 contingency bonus (five walleyes, 12 pounds, 9 ounces).
The next Walleye League Wisconsin Division event will be held on Green Bay in Oconto, Wis., July 7.
Three FLW Walleye League divisions – Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin – each feature three one-day events during the regular season. Every angler who receives weight credit earns points, with 100 points awarded to the winner, 99 for second, 98 for third, and so on. These points determine angler standings.
The top 35 boaters and 35 co-anglers from each FLW Walleye League division advance to the $116,900 Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League Finals, set for Sept. 13-15 on the Mississippi River in Moline, Ill. Anglers finishing in the top 10 in each division also receive priority entry into the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour for 2008, and the points champions from each division will also advance to the 2007 Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship in Cleveland, Ohio, Sept. 27-30.
The Wal-Mart FLW Walleye League was created to provide the grassroots walleye angler a chance to compete in professionally administered close-to-home tournaments with lucrative cash awards.
