Strutt and Strutt Capture Lake Oahe MWC

Kyle and Kendall Strutt from Belleville, Kansas brought 12.91 pounds to the scale today. Their day 2 weight was .03 pounds heavier than the day one weight and gave them enough total weight, 25.78 pounds, to capture the Lake Oahe MWC tournament.

In second place was another team from Kansas.Todd Kaniper and Troy Hemmy weighed in 13.92 pounds today to give them a two day total of 25.14 pounds. Local anglers Derek Nelson and Tyson Keller finished in third place. Their 15.17 pounds was the heaviest one day weight for the MWC tournament.

It was another very hot day on the water. As on saturday, the temperature approached 100 degrees. The weather did not appear to affect the fishing though. It appeared that there were more big fish weighed in today than on saturday.

Anglers reported catching fish in water from 6' deep to 60' deep. Fish were caught jigging, pulling cranks, pulling harnesses, slow death rigging, and even just back to basics with a crawler on a hook with a sinker on the line. The walleye must have been hungry today.

As always, a huge thank you to all the volunteers, many of which were from the Delta Waterfowl organization in Pierre. Without all of you, these events would be difficult, if not impossible to run.
