Giuliani Brothers Lead MWC after Day 1

Brothers John and Joe Giuliani only brought 4 fish to the scales but that was enough to lead after day one by more than 2.5 pounds. The winners of last year's tournament continued to show their knowledge of this system with a day one weight of 17.87#

After thunder and lightning delayed this morning's launch, 61 teams headed out to test their skills. As team after team came to the scales, it was obvious that today was a tough day for many teams.

In second place with 15.32 pounds were Wayne VanDyke and Erich Carlson.Third place belongs to Kal and Rick Ustishen with a weight of 14.52 pounds.
4th place: Jeff Manz and Gary Gorsuch 14.49#
5th place: Paul Schmidt and Linda Canill 13.10#

Big fish winners for day 1 are Joe and John Giuliani with a 5.35# walleye. Taking second place was the team of Paul Schmidt and Linda Carnill with a 5.20 # beauty. E. Jay Couch and Karl Zollman took third big fish prize with a healthy 4.96# fish

There were 161 walleye weighed in today with a total weight of 356.70 pounds. The large majority of these fish were released back to the area they were caught.

A huge crowd came out to support these anglers and did not seem put off by the frequent sprinkles. Following the weigh in was the "Kids Clinic". Close to 50 youths showed up to claim a rod/reel combo, an NPAA t-shirt, and have a chance at other prizes.

If the weather cooperates as predicted tomorrow, the first teams will take off at 8:00. Weigh in will begin at 4:00.

Stop down, cheer on these pros, and find out their techniques for the week.
