Gary's Online Tips

Flies For Walleyes
I never tried this before last year, but flies for walleyes should be in anyone’s tackle box. Now, you have another way to catch your favorite fish.

If It's Walleye - It's Gotta Be Winnebago
Everything is here for the angler, especially the fish. The 15” minimum size was lifted a couple of years ago and the fishing has improved. The last few spawns have been excellent to add to this lakes great future.

The Illinois River, A Sauger Bonanza
If you've got cabin fever and want a day or two of good fishing sooner than you can typically fish in Wisconsin waters, check out this early season sauger haven.

Finally, It's Ice Fishing Time
I spent the last few days checking out lakes and talking to as many knowledgeable anglers as possible. The following is what I found out.

Winters Open Water Walleyes
It is possible to fish most of the year for walleyes and saugers in waters that used to be frozen or in weather that froze your guides on your rod.

A Fall Fishing Bonanza
Walleyes were what we had targeted, but the hot smallmouth bite had saved the day and trip.

Perch A Plenty
On any given day, you can find perch up and down the whole water column. I found larger fish up high in the water and smaller fish on the bottom most of the time.

Ice Eyes
I regularly go to Lake Erie for this " too good to be true " ice fishing. I'm now going to tell you how you can experience " Ice Eyes " yourself.

Mother Nature Wins Out
My Lowrance LMS 350 locator and GPS marked solid fish from the 26 line to the 28 line. If you don't know, that's two miles of solid walleyes.

Walleye Magic - Poof! - They're Gone
The fish you have today can be gone tomorrow especially if you fish the wandering walleye.

Huron, Ohio Walleye Fishing
The main technique used this time of the year is open water trolling. You do not have to go that far out into Lake Erie to find the schools of fish.

Winnebago's Suspended Walleyes
The Winnebago system is a walleye anglers dream right now, so get out there and catch some good eaters and remember that high in the water column is where you'll find the better fish.

Spring Walleyes, Now's the Time
Not all walleyes are within 100 yards of the dam. Walleyes start migrating upriver in the fall and winter and stage and find comfortable areas miles below the dams.

Bass Tactics for High Water Spring Walleyes
It's the beginning of April, that magic time of year for the fisherman who's been waiting all winter to catch those wonderful walleyes. We've watched all the fishing shows this past winter.
