I have never had a kicker before. I was wondering hooking up a kicker motor would you be better off hooking it to your main motor, or leaving it a tiller, and driving it from the back of the boat. It will be on a Trophy 190 alumacraft. T-8 kicker.

It's all your preference. Whatever you feel most comfortable with. There are good arguements both ways. I have my T-8 hooked to my main motor and have a Trollmaster throttle control. This setup works ok for me with the only drawback it doesn't turn as sharp as I would like. This setup lets me move around the boat.

My boat is set up to do either. For open water trolling, connecting the kicker to the main motor, and using a Trollmaster throttle control, is a sweet combination. However, when trolling sharp breaks where sharper turns are needed to stay on them, I prefer to sit back by the tiller and either forward or back troll. More precise.

Another option is a tiller kicker with a troll Master and Panther electric steer. (there are other brand available also) Then you can run it like a tiller for back trolling etc. or run it remotely but not be tied to the console.
