View Full Version : walleye fishing on lake erie out from Lorain
Hello All, I wonder if someone can help me. I have been to the lake several times a year for perch. I will be going for the first time with my son this week for walleye. Can any one tell me how the walleye are doing and any advise on the pound of test line and what you would recomend for a bait rig? are the erie deries working or should I try another.
THANK YOU.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-28-01 AT 05:25PM (CST)[p] Drifting bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses has been good around Breast bay,I've had good luck casting gold Erie Dearies also, I don't fish the Lorain area so I can't help you with the hot spots, go back a few pages in the reports, there have been a lot out comming of your area.
As far as line goes you will get hundreds of different opinions around here from Mono to wire to lead core, I've never had any problem with plain ole 8 or 10 pound Mono unless i'm trolling divers or pulling boards.

Tim, I was out there today and the water was real muddy. You might wait until it clears....Glen

Have been fishing out of Lorain for last month. Stinger spoons behind Dipsy's have done the best. Purple in some form or other has also been best. Last time out my son and I ended up with 5 small eyes and got them late evening about a mile from the harbor.

Call Den at the Sportsman Outpost in Vermilion, Ohio for the fishing report. Phone 440/967/4000. He is usually in on Sunday until 2PM. During the week, usually can get him from 6AM on.
