Finally my Ranger is on the water again.I posted earlier that I had blown my 2000-200 efi and was torn between a new motor or a powerhead replacement. I went with the new 2003- 200efi motor with the 4 year warranty vs the 1 year for the reconditioned power head. I found the motor in BASS & WALLEYE MAGAZINE in a add that Jaco marine has running in there at a price I COULD'NT pass up. I have a very good Ranger dealership here in Rockford ILL,ANGLERS EDGE MARINE, that let me have the motor shipped to them. They took the blown one off, and put the new one on in 2 days and I ran it for about 45 mins on the river today to start getting it broke in per instructions. I have the smart gauge on order as my other motor, did'nt have it.The newer efi's are mostly opti's with out the rails and some other differences, that I did'nt know about when I ordered the motor. The old warning system, buzzer,is hooked up and works for most of the warning system till my smart gauge arrives. I had my warrenty card in the mail from Jacos in TENN 3 days after purchaseing motor, and the motor here 7 days after,Edge was closed for 2 of the 7 days. The purchase of this motor has gone very well for me so far, and I can't say enough about how these marine dealerships have treated me. Anglers Edge has one of the top mech around and try to work with you on anything they could help you with. I still dont know what I'M going to do with the old blown motor, sell for parts or what, but it sure does feel good to have the wind in the face again...redrnger

Big Bill, are you the Bill that I spent some on the water with, on Big Spirit Lake, IA? We used Scott B's boat and caught some very nice eyes. Scott told me about your engine tragedy, I am glad you are back on the water.

Great news Bill. Sounds like you made a good decision on motor choices. I agree that EJ and Anglers Edge is an excellent Ranger dealer. Now if you just had a windshield you wouldn't need to feel the wind in your face.

Yeah, Tim it's me. Congrats to you on that 619 you just got, they are nice boats. We'll have to get together again, see if we can duplicate that day we had on Spirit .When you go out with Scott bring along a small carpet, lay it in his boat and call him Jerry, tell him Bill told you to do it.lol.The smart gages have more sensors on them, can tell you hours on the motor. It monitors the engine more than the beeper under the dash. Not all that sure of everything it does, but I'M takeing no chances with this motor(costs to much)so they can't say it's not covered cause I did'nt have a SMARTCRAFT gauge hooked up.redrnger

Bill, Tim and I fished from midnight yesterday until about 7:00 a.m. today. It was the Walleye opener. Pulled crankbaits and counted 76 Walleyes caught. Only three measured the legal limit, but it was a nice night, and we had a good time. We fished this afternoon, after a nap, and will start again tomorrow at 5:00 a.m.
