1. where can I get the tool to tune a crankbait?
2. I ran some test and found on the cranks that I tested that I didn't need the split rings. Any thought as to why they put them on?

Go to about page 5 and look at the thread that says

"Lure Turn R"

I use this tool and it works better than needle nose pliers.

Luby,

You can bet the lure tuner at Joebuchertackle.com and Scheels in Fargo also has them.

The split rings are so you can tie directly to the lure without loosing any action. If you remove the split ring make sure you use a snap(no swivel) with a wide bend.

I think most people fishermen just use a snap on to the ring.

See Juls' reply to post below titled "Tuning Crankbaits". She has the URL listed for the Lure Tuner. She also gives a good narrative on tuning deep running crank baits. Gotta love that in a woman!!

JoeBuchers.com is the place to get the best crank bait tuning tool. I posted this same question earlier in the year, and bought it the same day, recieved it the same week and used that weekend. It works.
