Just trying to help Rick-Wy. get a feel for trolling speeds from a Suzuki/Johnson 140 four-stroke, from his post here:

I get down to about 2.8MPH with a Suzuki DF140, 20"SS on a Fisherman 1700...

Your 140 is geared higher than the same powerhead in a 90 or 115. If you had that gear ratio (2.39 - 1) you would have a trolling machine and a better prop selection available to boot. The slight increase in horsepower by a little more displacement and a hotter computer chip is not enough to justify the higher gear ratio for your 140 on a walleye boat. The 115 or 90 troll down better and now you know why. Look in the specs. on those motors.

Viking fan:
Agree, the 115 is 2.59:1 gear ratio.
However, my comparison was the Yamaha 150 vs the Suzuki 140. Yamaha being 2.0:1 and the Suzuki 2.38:1. A 16% speed decrease.
The 115 vs 140 would have a 8% decrease.
