Are most boats rigged so that the main motor, kicker motor, and all the electronics run off the same lonesome battery? If so are they set up so the kicker also charges the system & battery when it's running, or does it only use juice?

How accurate are the 'voltmeter' readings on Lowrance X-85's? The voltmeter drops after 2-3 hours trolling with the kicker, and nothing else running except electronics. The X-85 sorta starts losing it's mind about then too, like electronics do when running on about 10.5 volts....

My last boat was rigged with a 150hp and a 15hp kickier. Both motors were wired to start from the same battery along with my electronics. I understand that by 15hp would charge my battery with running, but I'm sure there wasn't much happening it you were idling with it. I never noticed a problem with by sonar unit when running the 15 hp for hours on end.

Your kicker doesn't produce much charge at slow speeds. It only generates very low amps from the magneto off the flywheel. You must not have a deepcycle/starting battery otherwise your battery would last longer than a couple of hours under those conditions.
