New Lund has the MinnKota 35. The dealer recommended and provided the Crab Claw 22. He said it would work good with the davit. One month old, the claw is peeling plastic on the bottom, not a major problem. Then this last weekend, my son was docking on Erie and barely touched the dock with back anchor and it went into the water. Being a good son, he went in after it. He retrieved it on a 2 foot ledge by the pumps. We thought the connector, which I never trusted, broke. When checked, the anchor cracked at the top. I was not happy with this anchor as it seemed to bulky and even with the pin, I was concerned when I was in waves or on the road.I'll take it back tomorrow but I am not sure what to replace it with. For road travel I would even be ok with a quick release. In the past I had the 18 and the equiped anchor but that would not do on the 1900.Also need one to fit the davit. Read comments on the ProAnchor or Richter but could not locate and not sure if either would fit my system,
This is my first time sending a message but have been a reader over the last 4mo and appreciate the ideas and some of the humor. I am starting to fish Erie more every year and am kicking myself for not doing more sooner. You may be hearing more from me.
Thanks for the help,

I would also like to hear what anchor to use with these. I have been looking at the 35 and 40 MK Deck Hand lifts. What are the differences between the 18, 35 and 40's? Better gears perhaps? I have a 16.5 Grumman and the 18 looks a little iffy as far as the anchor hitting the side of the boat, mounting, etc.

I have 2 Deck Hand 40's installed fore and aft on my 20ft. I use the Richter 18 lb. anchor and they hold rock solid even in the worst of conditions. The anchor holds firmily on the davit in the stow position when moving from one fishing hot spot to another. When travelling a high speeds across the water or trailering I bring the anchors in the boat.
