I just caught the biggest walleye of my life (i'm 46) 14.37 lbs, in a tournament on Ft. Peck Lake in Montana. Just wondering how that matches up with those big eyes from the great lakes. Tight lines to you all.
Also Proud!

Ya got me by .37, but I released it and she's waiting for me this fall, even fatter and sassier. I just hope Moby 'Eye still likes those nasty looking doctored up pearl shad raps...
By the way, any fish looks bigger if someone besides me is holding it up...

Don't laugh Eh, it could happen?

I thought all MT tournaments were length to weight conversions?

Eddy,
That "BlueJay Barbie" custom designed #9 Pearl model is hanging in the mouth of a beautiful replica in my office. It's full of teeth marks and looks like I used it for a week of barracuda fishing. My biggest debate is whether to unretire the particular lure this fall.
Of course, I might have a few boxes of the special Lily Raps waiting for my magic markers.
Did I say Pearl Shad Rap?I meant Black & Grey, ya ya. Good 'ol Black and Grey, uhhh not Shad Rap, it was a, uhhh Frenzy, ya a Shallow Frenzy. That's it. You can have those, no problem buddy.
You are planning to go aren't ya???

Don't know if Mike kept that one or not, but 14.37 is a listed conversion weight, as I recall. like for 32 3/4 or some such length I don't get much practice with...lol)
However, you can keep one for a trophy in a Montana Circuit tourney.

You forgot to tell them that a 7 yr old boy tied you for the big walleye, my son Casey. Wow, you both did great!

I sure do plan to be up there this fall, not sure when but I will be there.
Will be toting a few new trollers from SALMO too. No Barbie doll colors in the line but they do have a few that may work.
Todd did you check on the Salmo Whitfish yet, take a peek at them once. http://www.salmo.com.pl/

You wanna beat that 15.05, Ed? Now you're getting a little greedy...
Backwater Eddy

Ya well, maybe?
OK.....So I am greedy, what's your point Ness?
LOL
:)
My money is on Todd or T-Mac to find her first!
(At least that is what I want THEM to think, Shhhhh....don't tell them Eh, that's my strategy!)

Thats huge, congrats. My best is 11#7 ounces from the detroit, early april. I wanted a 12 in my lifetime, I think that is going to have to change to 13.

Ed ol' buddy,
I KNOW I can beat that 15# fish! Doing it is a whole different question.
Everyone has a fish story, we lost one that dwarfed my 14 at the boat last year and had another on I never saw that was... impressive, right up to 6' on the linecounter, but never even saw it - total sumo piggy with shoulders, hips, thighs, and a fuel injected walleye turbo. Let's pray for cool weather early, then a stable front with north wind say, the whole time I'm up there! And every dang crank is going to have triple grips, sharpened every time, no more fireline, softer rods, better prayers, more aggressive netters, less 8' waves....
Those salmo's do look good.
Alas Eddy, you have me beat, but I would point out TMac has two 16's if my memory is correct....
First one to 17 buys a magnum bottle of Dom.

I caught a 15 lb female 25 years ago in my Smelt dipping net. Believe me, as a kid that fish had me stumbling all over to get her to shore and realize what I had.

Well, you've got me beat too. My best is a 32" 13#7oz from Bay of Quinte. The best part is that I caught it on a 24" ice rod. I've had a few over 10# but I'm still lookin' for that 15+pounder. It's a goal I've had for a long time. Pete

Dude - those things are great for hooks ups but they straighten right out under any kind of pressure. Believe me - be careful with those things

yup saw your fish, i have a 14.5 mounted at the house at if you want to look at a good mount. did catch one fish on your bottom bouncer before i lost it. did catch a 32.5 inch walleye in the missouri river this spring, put back to let grow up.
Fuzzy, I went to college in Ripon, WI and spent a fair amount of time on Big Green. I talked to a DNR guy once and they said they had sampled a walleye in Big Green that was over 19# - now that's a piggy. Granted, this was a number of years ago, but that lake can grow 'em big if you can find 'em.
Best Regards,
FJH

FJH - I was just kiddin in the post, but I have also heard that
about BG. Snyder and others have taken several teenagers over the years. Big Bay DNR reports are similar - state recrods are netted every year. I prefer hook and line, but if they want me to net them I will.
For what its worth, my personal best is 12.5 (Western basin in Spring), and 2 weeks ago I netted a 13 for my loverly bride in Ontario.
Keep the net wet,

My best is a 29.5 inch in Canada 6/25/01. My wifes from the same spot mine came from was a 33.5 inch whopper. Made mine look like a baby next to it!!! Getting them mounted as I type. Both hanging together should make a heck of a mount. My hats off to my wife that pink and white worm harness turns on those female walleye according to her. :-) And she proved it!!! Craig

Two years ago off Kelly's Island we had 8 over 10 lb. The last fish we caught was a 32 5/8", 12.2 pounder that had just spawned out. My taxidermist said that with all of that big belly hanging, he made it a 15.

My biggest eye is 34 1/4 inches. I released it. Never got to weigh it. Caught it on a notorios muskie lake. Rowan Lake in Ontario. Did get some nice pictures of it. It fell for the illusive jig-n-minnow combo.

Hey Mike, Nice catch. I knew you had a pig when you held it up when I drove by. They only had Dan and Casey's 14# listed as big fish so I didn't think it was up there. Way to go... The same to you Magic. Awsome stringer, 4 fish-38.9LBS... thats getting with it. The best we could do on Saturday was an 8#. You guys sure know how to make a guy feel small... I think I have Eyeenvy.. Hats off to all who posted..

Great Fish! All of the posts here of "biggest" I would be happy to claim. It took me 30 years of fishing to hit my biggest that was caught on Lake Winnipeg in 1998. She went 32 1/4" and weighed 12# 15oz. I have 2 on the wall that were in the 11# 8oz ballpark and promised my wife no more until it is 14#+. That one will be a replica this time. I will get that 14 this fall, I am confident!

WOW!!! Never expected this much response! This will been the
first walleye I have kept to be mounted. Congrats to casey from
Billings, he also caught the same size walleye while fishing with his dad. Not bad for a 7 year old, took me a lot longer. we did share the big walleye for day two. Hey casey I'll share it with you again next year. Thanks to everyone who responded. Tomorrow is aug 4, want to see that picture of the big one. tight lines to you all

Hey Dan, Did you guys get your big fish on bait or cranks? I'm just curious. Seems like those big Peck fish have a thing for cranks. Any info you can offer up??? See ya on the water..
Hi Mike, Any info about catching your big fish?? Bait or cranks??? We got our biggest fish on Blue/Chrome Ripstick in 10-12' during afternoon winds. See ya later, Rob...

Hey,
I have alot of 9#er's too, but still looking for my first 10+ eye. It always seems like I tell my friends to get the rod when at 2 in the morning they are almost asleep just to see them reel in a 10+ eye. Me and my BIG mouth!!! My turn is coming soon, I hope! Good fishing to all. JJ
30in. but only 5lbs out of Houghton Lake MI. Had a HUGE lamprey eel attached to it, came in like a log. 1998

RJ: she came out of 24 ft on a 16' to 26' break. we were drifting with the wind using a bright silver spinner with pearl beads. a boat next to us caught a 10+ lber at about the same time, they were in 18' near the top of the break.
