Recently purchased 5 gallons of Peanut Oil for frying fish. I don't reuse the old oil. I am wondering if the unused oil will get old or bad? How long will it last unused in the container? Any ideas?

Peanut oil will easily last a year. Just store it in a cool place in the lower level of your home. It need not be refrigerated. We use only the peanut oil at our house now. We prefer it's quality. Five gallon will last us about a year between the turkey fryer, fish, and anything else.

I have peanut oil that is about 8 months old. Is there a way to tell if it is bad? I have opened it and smelled it and don't notice any foul smell. Is there a way to tell?
