I think most people will agree that Off shore has the most widly used in line boards out there.
In ND we are able to use two rods per person. The boards allow us to spread out our lines to cover more area. This works best in areas with a straight run. I use bottom bouncers and spinner often. The tattleflag system is a must in this situation. It allows you to determine when you have a small fish or a weed on your line. The flag held up by a spring and will be pulled down with a small fish easily.
We also use them when trolling crank baits. Large deep diving cranks will pull the flag down. You will have to get a stiffer spring or rig it different if you want the flag to stay up.

For large boards, I have had no complaints with Patco's double planer, made from Redwood. I bought them new for $50.00 and have been using them for 10 yrs. They have been run in 5' to 7' waves on Erie and have never dived on me, or crossed the back of the boat. My dad did add a stiffener to each, and this helps keep them running true in the rough stuff.
