I know I haven't been on here for a while but the summer has been hectic. Sorry for that, but I promise I will make up for it again over the course of the winter. ;) Over the years a few of you follow what I do in the winter and many of you already know that I fish on the PWT in the summer. Well, just a quick tid bit of information for you. I just signed with the Chicago Blawkhawks of the NHL for the 2001-2002 season. I hope to make a good impression this fall in training camp and find a spot on the roster for the season. Like last season I would imagine I will spend some time in the minors, but this years club is in Norfolk Virginia (Bass Country) which isn't a bad spot to end up either. I hope everyone is enjoying the summer. I have been but it is ending very quickly! I will see you all on Walleye Central this coming winter. Good fishing and don't forget to shoot the puck. Best wishes, and good luck to you!

I'll send a note to the Blue Jackets front office and ask them not to run up the score against the Blackhawks, especially if you are playing. I hope we get to see you play in Columbus. (It's good you reminded everyone the Blackhawks are still in the NHL) Good Luck. Duane

Congrats Mike!! That's great news. Summer is very hectic and it is just flying by, but that means we are all staying busy and that's a good thing.
Once again, congrats.

Mike.. give Smith Mountain Lake a shot. My son was in college down there, went over and looked at it..in January air temp of 58 deg and NO one fishing guess they can't handle anything below 80 there! It occasionally will get a skim coating of ice at worst condition. Went into a tackle shop, wall had many mounts of 6-8# walleye caught by accident targeting other fish there. Never did get to fish it though.

Congratulations on your new gig! You're probably familiar w/ the Illinois River and it's spring runs. The Fox Chain & river system can be a great place to fish fall through spring. The fish don't come easy, but it can be a great education.

For what it's worth, I think the NW suburbs - along Rte 59 & south or Rte 12 for example - are some of the best places to live(in case you have to relocate). Lots of fishing and hunting options up this way and the commute in is no worse than from many other areas. The mantra out here is "work where you have to, but live where you want to". If you can live further out and like some elbow room, check out Woodstock and Bull Valley.

Oh yeah, also check the Johnsburg area and homes around Pistakee Bay depending on your budget and what you like. My previous post should have read along Rte 59 south "OF" Rte 12.

Wasn't there a Peluso that played for the Hawks? I can remeber back when Probie use to play for the Wings and he used this Peluso for a punching bag.Is that you?

Congrats Mike. I hope you make the team as our Hawks need all the help they can get. Though it's not WI, MN or Canada there are plenty of fishing opportunites around the area. And good Wisconsin lakes ae only an hour or an hour and a half away.

Some Words of advice.
This is your second chance at the big time (Remember Calgary i sure do)
So Put the boat in the garage and hang up the walleye gear and start working out like you never have before. The PWT will still be there if this dont work out. You have waited alot of years for this Probably since you were 4 years old The time is NOW maybe your last chance So focus and work hard.Just think of the day When you can sip champane out of Lord Stanley's cup in the back of a Walleye boat.Work Work Work and you know the saying
DONT FORGET TO SHOOT THE PUCK!!!(at the net not the goalie)
Good luck hope to see you on the ice.

His cousin Mike Peluso, played for the Hawks in '89-'92, and I believe he has the Hawks record for most penalty minutes in a season: 400+.

HELLO MIKE !

Congratulations on signing with the Blackhawks !
Being a Central New Yorker, people get on me for being a die hard Hawks fan since I was old enough to know what a puck was !
(mid 60's)
Got a whole room of Blackhawks memoribilia and hopefully I can add something of yours in the future !

If you do get a short stint at Norfolk and the team comes to Syracuse this winter to play the Syracuse Crunch, I'd like to take you out and hit the ice on the best inland walleye fishery in the northeast, Oneida lake.
It's only 15 minutes from the arena and it's right in my back yard !

Hope you make the Blackhawks Roster and then we'll see you in Buffalo, Toronto and Ottawa when the Hawks play there !

GOOD LUCK MIKE !

Hey Mike,

I watched you for 4 years at the DECC from section 28. For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to see Mike play, he's one fine hockey player. He was also very enjoyable to listen to on the post-game interviews. This guy can talk with credibility. I half expect him to host his own fishing show someday. Knapper alwys told me that you were a heck of an outdoorsman. I'd love to go fishing with you one day. Anyway, best of luck to you this season and those to follow on both the hard water and soft. I could care less about the Hawks (GO LEAFS), but I wish you the very best.
