I've got a 2004 620 full windshield with a 225 Opti, 21 Tempest mounted in the 4th hole. This is the 04 model with the taller transom, thus the need for the 4th hole mount. This weekend, flat water, two guys, full fuel, kicker, livewells empty, I was able to run 5350 RPM and about 54 MPH GPS. I spoke to a guy on the water that had the identicle setup, he wasn't sure about the prop, and he said he was able to get 59 MPH. I didn't ask if that was GPS speed, but I assumed as such. Spoke to a boat rigger yesterday, and he told me I should get a 4 blade Rev4 (I think) and I should be able to get better MPH. Any ideas with what I can do to get a few more MPH.

I don't think you are too far off. Was the other guy by himself and did he have a full windshield? I've noticed (of course mine is a 619)that an additional 180 pound guy and a full tank of fuel will lose me about 4mph. With the added resistance of a full windshield I would say that would make it a bit worse.

The other guy had the full windshield, and there were 2 guys in the boat. It was also an 04 just like mine too. Thanks...

I talked to the factory last week, and they said middle hole (3rd) & Tempest 21. should give you around 56.

Wonder what the touring pros have to say.

three things, first the other guy you thlked to is blowing smoke. that boat's never gonna run 59 unless its being pulled on a trailer. second try another 21 tempest i've seen new props marked with the wrong pitch. also stock props can be off a bunch you should be able to spin that 21 right at the limiter. third get the motor higher that will give you more revs. just watch your water pressure needs to be 12# or more. wiredog

If your interested I have a brand new 23pitch Tempest plus that I would like to trade for a 21p Tempest plus. Im running it on a 2003 619 with a 200 V-max HPDI. Im not getting enough rpms when loaded heavy. Its turning 5150 loaded at 52mph and 5450 loaded light at 56.5 mph. e-mail me if interested.
