CAN ANYONE GIVE ME THEIR OPINION ON THE PURCHASE OF AN AQUA VIEW OR ANY OF THE OTHER CAMERAS OUT THERE.
We bought the Atlantis Underwater camera. It is the black and white and not color, but I think that you can see more because of the light. Anyway, I love it. It is really neat to see the bottom and the fish. Let me warn you however, that if the body of water that you are fishing on is rough, the camera will bob up and down so much that you won't be able to see anything. If it is realatively calm, you can even see if the fish like your bait or not.

I have an Aqau-vu with the red and green lights on it and I love it! You get a very clear picture w/o the lights and with the lights you can see at night or in 60 ft of water where w/o the lights the camera didn't work. I use mine for trolling a lot and I have put a 2lb. handline weight on the camera to get it down and that works great. As far as using it in rough water, I have had mine in 5 ft waves and it has worked fine and I could see fine. Oh and by the way, If you plan to use yours while trolling, make sure to get the 120' cable!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for your unit (I'm assuming $USD). Also, how much extra was the 120'cable?
Thanks in advance.

The aqua-vu with red and green lights w/ 120 ft of cable is $500. They are that price everywhere and that how much I got mine for. The cameras are in Bass Pro and Cabelas if you want to look at them.

Do you think the red and green lites make a difference? Real or gimmck over regular lights? Ever see any other cam work?
Jighead,
I had an Aquaview Junior and used it a couple of times on Lake Oahe in South Dakota. I was disappointed in the distance you could see from the camera, only 2' to 5', depending on the clarity of the water. Also, you had to have the camera bumping bottom or just above to see the bottom and the 1' column of water above it. It is really cool when you see a walleye, but it's usally gone in an instant, so if you're not really looking hard at it you'll miss it. It is also hard to get any fishing done if you're looking at the screen. I took mine back to Cabelas to get my money back, but might have kept it if I did more ice fishing or fished clearer water lakes.

Hi Sublux,
I have used the Red/Green Aqua in 120' and ended up taking it back for an infra model. I went back to the Aqua Z120 due to the fact that the Red/Green model seems to shine water particles off of it. You get a complete white out with it. If the water is real dirty you will have lots of reflection from it. The infra model only absorbs the particles. My best advise to you would be to rent a model if possible and try for yourself.

Thank you!,..I see references to renting these,....must be you are in more "fish country",....I don't know of anyplace that rents these in the New England area,..out bait and tackle shops are generally small Mom and Pop places with limited stuff,..

My partner uses the aqua view with r/g lights I use the out door viewing systems with infra red we'd both like to try one to record with but thats another pocket full of money personally infra red works best. BUT it doesnt matter what type of lights you get the water clarity makes a big diffence and the time of day or night. at night ice fishing the camera must be placed within a foot of the bait to see any thing thats going to take it

I have a Catch Cam that is sold on WC here.
It mounts on your boat like a depth finder and also has a soft pack for ice fishing.
I do not eaven bother bringing it with on the river or very stained water because of your limited visibility in these situations. As soon as you can see bottom in 3' of water I put it on and use it.
It is a cinch to use and you can see wallys at will when they are there. This is a very good tool to see the different bottom structure that wallys like and it makes reading your sonar an art after seeing the bottom for real you will be a lot better at it. Just seeing fish don't mean they will bite and far from it but it is very entertaining for kids and a great education for you.
I have been very satisfied with mine. The only problem is I made a camera holder out of a large heavy duty plastic cup bolted to the side of the mount and it scratched the cover on the camera until it was useless so I had to polish until clear again which realy was not that hard just a good lesson.
This is the only camera that mounts like a depthfinder and you do need a heavier weight if you are going to troll faster than 1.5 mph.
Hope this helps

Aqua-Vu is great! The MCX2 with 120ft cable was $472 at Reeds. Shipping was free! And Aqua-Vu did a camera replacement for me(my cable got pinched) for free and in 2 days after receiving my bad one my new one arrived.
Awesome unit!
