I'll be using 14lb fire line with the large dipsey's. I heard a while back the rule of thumb for depth would be 2ft for every 3ft let out is this about right.

i have been asking for a response for fireline depth also......either the guys dont want to let out the secret or nobody is really sure........the rule of thumb that i use is 1/3.......this is based on a buddy of mine that uses dipsy/fireline and lets out X amount of line and then trolls into shallower water until his rods start 'jumpin'........he was saying that 210 out = 65ft. down with the big dipsy and that 180 out = 65ft. down with a slide-diver.........this was with 20lb fireline........dont know if this helps, but is the only thing i know.........later
