How late in the year has anyone on this board fished spoons on
Lk. Erie like michigan stingers or krocidile spoons, also has anybody have experience using Vanish fluorocarbon line as a leader off dipsy divers.
Tanks for any replies
Lundy, the latest I have used spoons on Erie was last fall, last week of October & the first week of Nov., off of Huron and Vermillion. We caught a bunch of big eyes on dipseys/jets with stinger spoons, also had good luck with the big deep diving Reef Runners off of the boards. Trolled around 1.75 to 2.2mph.
I use the Stren High Impact flourocarbon (15lb) for all of my walleye leaders on dipseys and jets, I've never had a single problem, seems to be good, tough stuff.

Ben...I read your message about fall fishing on Erie near Huron..I intend to go to the get-together at Huron this Nov..what was your set up for fishing the Reef Runner deep divers..I noticed the water is deeper that those depths out of Port Clinton for the most part...how much line were you letting out & what was the weight of your snap weights...looks like a lot of 30-35 feet to me. Also, I am sending to Den at the Sportman Den this week an order for some Reef Runners..what colors worked for you at Huron in Nov? I appreciate any info.
Thanks
Bill

spoons, worm harnesses and reef runners worked well off Huron and Vermilion until the bad weather set in early last year.

Thnks for the replies :-)
Sorry for the late reply Bill. We flat lined most of the reef runners off of big boards and when we did use a snap weight it was 1/2 or 3/4 oz. 125, 150 and 175 ft. back. The flat line at 150 was the best producer. Best colors for us were, in order, ranbow trout, gold clown, perch,chrome/blue back, and cheap sunglasses. The big deep divers will dive 25 - 28 on 150-175 ft. line out with no weight. These were suspended fish from 15 to 35ft. over 41 ft. of water.
