The long-range weather forcast for that weekend is cooler temps, with highs in the mid 80's--no rain. Who knows what will happen, but as long as it doesn't snow it should be good.

Went to Glendo over the weekend. Water is way down, but fishing was great. It takes a while to weed through the little ones, but we did manage to catch some over 20".

Is the ramp at Whiskey still accessible?

Beats the ##### out of 42 degress and snowing. And if we catch one walleye, that will be more than we caught last year!

We will be able to launch somewhere. There's no way the water could be lower than last October?

I was able to use the low water ramp at Whiskey, and I put in at the Marina once also.

I was trolling trolling Shad Raps around the Indian Point area.

Starts to dominate one's thinking, eh? I'm counting days, hours, and minutes to when I point the Blue Dodge south, and set sail. Everyone drive carefully and arrive safely.

I'm going to be in Minneapolis the 14 through the 16th so I won't be there until early friday morning, but I'll be there.

Put a beer on ice and save me a seat in the boat.... I'll bring the elk meat.

I just found this site with Neal's help, http://www.hnhps.com/wyomingwaters. It has links with a Glendo map, weather, fishing reports, etc. Our coming even made their headlines!

BUMMER!!!
For the second year in a row, I am afraid I will have to bail out at the last minute. My buddy's mother-in-law is gravely ill and he has to head down to New Mexico. In my case, I have just taken on a new administrative position and I am absolutely buried. I will probably cry all weekend but right now I can't see having the time to get away. I have looked forward to this get-together all year and am really bummed out. Hope you guys (and ladies) have a great trip. Will look forward to the reports.

I will be out of the office all next week but you guys can still post me messages here on the board and I will use my wifes lab top to respond. Someone sent me a joke with a virus that laid waste to my home computer. I thought I had it fixed but the virus destroyed a couple of files and for some reason I can't access Walleye Central? So I will check this paqge at least once a day till we all head for Glendo later this week.

Okay, I'll try not to jynx the fishing for this coming weekend but I wanted to give you guys a report from last weekend. Got out a little late Saturday. Trolled cranks all day catching some really nice fish with the biggest at 26". There are some really little fish, but patience seems to be key. Probably caught somewhere around 15 to 20 fish from 10 to 4:30. Sunday morning, I was able to get the wife and kid out a little earlier since we only had a short time to fish. We caught 11 fish in 45 minutes, only 3 of which were under 19". The rest were all 19 to 22". Then they shut off instantly. Fishing seemed to be hot for morning and afternoon hours only.

See you all Friday night!

Hey Wheels,

Thanks for the update. How deep were you running the cranks?

Are you showing up early enough to fish friday?

wheels
08-13-2001, 08:03 AM
I'll get up there around 2 Friday afternoon, so I hope to get a few hours anyway.

Cranks were running about 10 to 15 deep over 30 to 40 foot of water.

Lets hope the fishing stays decent until this weekend!

What boat will you be in so I'll know who to follow while trolling? :) I plan on arriving Thu evening, so I'll be fishing Fri morning and will try the Indian Pt. that you mentioned before.

Anyone know if there are shower facilities at Whiskey campground? Also, are leeches and crawlers available in the city of Glendo?

Neal/CO
08-13-2001, 07:54 PM
Thanks for the update Wheels!

I should be there no later than 10:00 in the morning on Friday.
Dennis e-mail me your cell phone number to my office e-mail. Hopefully all you guys got my e-mail with my cell number?

There are no showers, strictly primitive camping. Good thing the lake water is still warm!!!

No showers at whiskey, but can get a shower at Lakeveiw Hotel which is just north of town a short distance, Bait is available at Curlys Bait Shop which is just across the tracks. Fish Glendo 3 days a week and fish are biting all over the lake. Crawlers and crankbaits work the best. Just hope most people are releasing those 20 in plus fish. Sure is a lot of fun to catch these nice fish year after year. We are very fortunate to have a quality walleye fishery like this. Lets all do are part in keeping it that way. This lake is loaded with bait fish as you will see when you get here. These fish are real fat, even the smaller ones. They look like baby footballs and boy are they tatsty. Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Oh yea I forgot. My home e-mail is down and I am out of the office this week. I will be in the office for half a day on Thursday, so you can e-mail there and I will respond that morning. I will also check this page every night with my wifes lab-top. Everybody drive safe and I'll see you at the lake.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-14-01 AT 02:06PM (CST)[p]Eric;
I am going to try to be there between 09:00-10:00. First stop will be @ Curlys for license etc. then out to the camp ground. Would you want to try to hook up @ Curlys, or Howards who has licenses as well as all the rest of the items that one needs, in order to stay out of jail, and catch fish.

I would hope that Golden or someone would bring a sign to help assist us in congregating, into more or less one area.

Thanks for the offer, I would be glad to fish with you.

Tom

OBTW, karintom@tein.net if you have a cell phone number you could send to me.

We will be in Whisky Gulch campground which is the first campground you will hit. There is pretty good signage for that campground.

I have a Tan/White Ford Explorer and will be pulling a Green/White Starcraft with a Merc. Dkooser, Neal/CO and I are meeting north of Denver at 6:00 a.m. I think it is about a 3 or 4 hour drive from Denver to Glendo. I will set up camp before heading out on the water, so just drive through Whiskey Gulch campground till you see me. How does that sound?

Bring you leadcore rod/reel if you have one.

I don't have a cell phone or anything.

I will wait to put the boat in till we hook up. right?

Does anyone want some bait? I have 4-5 dozen leeches and at least 10 dozen night crawlers that I don't feel like babysitting all winter so would anyone like to use them up? Where and what kind of vehichles so I might get rid of these? Anyone plan on being around Thursday night I could drop them off then or meet Friday and go fishing with someone and get rid of the bait?

FISH
08-14-2001, 05:16 PM
Looking to get rid of my stock pile of night crawlers and leeches if anyone is interested? I just want them to go to good use and not have to winter them (not all of them anyway) Where would be a good place to meet to distribute them? Not trying to sell them just wanted to give away so someone else may save some cash on buying any there if they were going to get any. Bring your own container and bedding or place for the leeches. have 4-5 dozen leeches and 10 dozen night crawlers.

FISH
08-14-2001, 05:29 PM
looks like I need to send this to your attention. I have a bunch of crawlers and leeches that you can have. All I need to know is what vehichle to look for and you can have as many as you want. Bring containers for leeches and crawlers and your own bedding and I got all the bait, no sense in buying a bunch if you can get it for free? Just wanted to get some use out of them.

Neal, and the gang

I waited till the last minute hoping that Terri and I would make it up ,but as usual I have to work again this weekend. I'll sure miss being with everyone, yet that's why my company moved me to Colorado. By the way, If anyone brings a digital or regular camera please post some pitures on WC. And another thing, please omit any pictures of Eric with walleyes over 10lbs.as he really ought to start his own web site for lunkers. LOL
Tell everyone I said hi....and by the way Dave don't bring your wife's world famous Salsa...Save it for me.

Bring the crawlers and leeches. I'd definitely like to try fishing with some leeches. They're not available in Utah. I'll bring some bedding for worms too.
