I have my 350 wired directly to my starter battery and occasionally whenever I start my main motor with the 350 on, the 350 kicks off then on again. Any suggestions on how to cure this annoying glitch?

IF your battery has more than a couple of years on it, you might try a new battery. Sounds like the voltage is being pulled down by the starter to where the 350 is shutting down.

not trying to be a wise guy but i'd just wire it to another battery...i have several electronics incl my 350A wired to a separate battery...also i think the 350 can run down a battery and if you are not recharging by running during 350 operation you may have difficulty starting....steve

dont get me started......ok i am started...i have two
lms 350s and they are givin me fits...
they are terrific units...but suddenly they not reliable.
first...they have done the blip off thing with the cranking
of the big motor, and they are not hooked to the same battery.
i cleaned up the connections and kinda re wired the whole
thing and it does not do it any more. my suggestion is to
hook it to a different battery and make sure the wireing
job is a good one.
now....3 weeks ago the depth finder part of one of the
units goes bye bye...the other goes dead, so i am sure
lightning as struck and ruined every thing. i sent the
dead one in to be repaired by lowrance, they are always
helpful and the guy calls and says nothings wrong-works
perfect no charge......i get the unit back and it works
fine for one day then goes dead again. (eeeeekkkkkk)
the other unit ( the one with no depth finder) suddenly
starts working again.
i need these things working each and every weekend so i
will call lowrance tomorrow again, and they will be helpful
and invite me to send the unit in. i am not complaining
about them, the problem is intermittent and probably wont
do for them again.....therein lies the rub....
have nice days kids....beat the heat..

I also have a little problem with my 350a. It seems when its hot like this and in direct sunlight my screen goes dim, or something and I can't see it very well. I've been putting a wet rag over it and it helps a little, but I'd like to not have to do that. Any suggestions, I haven't really messed with the contrast, or back lighting, could that be it???
Oh just back from fishing---windy to start, then dead calm---alsmot killed me it was so hot. managed 2perch, and 2 walleye, on problem the perch were bigger than the eyes.

Try using a heavier guage wire directly from the battery to the 350. The restart is because the motor is taking most of the batteries power to start. Be sure the battery is good and terminals are clean and use at least an #8 wire. Only thing on that wire should be the 350 and fuse both sides at the battery.

mine does that very thing also....most of the time it recovers
on its own....but have had to "reset" mine a couple of times.
i guess my beef is this...it ruins the day when it quits
working, and then its not even something they can fix. so
you jsut wait for it to happen again....
other than that....i just love my 350as
