I posted earlier and thought the new subject might help get some responses. My boat will be here on Thursday afternoon and I have a tournament on Friday. I'm putting a X-85 on the bow and a globalmap 1600 on the console. The only thing I don't know yet is whether I will go with the Edge or the X-15 and I was hoping someone out there could give me some insight. I'm familiar with the Vexilar and like it but I would like to here some input on the X-15. Please help! Thanks.

I replaced one of my two X-85s with an Edge and I am extemely happy with the results. The Edge has better resolution than the X-85, that being said the X-85 has been and is a good unit. However there are two areas that I think sets the two apart. With changing depths and lake bottom the X-85 required constant fine tuning to provide the information needed, the Edge does most if not all of this fine tuning automatically. Secondly the dual transducers with Edge is terrific, I especially like it when trying to work weed lines.

In regard to the X-15 I have fished with a friend who has one. Although I think it is good unit he indicated that there had been a couple of updates for the X-15 already and he had trouble with it blowing fuses. Could be just first year glitches. It is not dual transducer, I don't know if it is an option.

friend has both of them mounted side by side on his boat. Mainly bought the x-15 for gps functions. When you compare the two side by side the edge wins hands down for marking fish.
I was in this dilema a few weeks ago and in the process of mounting a vexilar on the boat this week.
Things i like about the edge. It's simple to use. Has mainly three screen selections. You can run the narrow cone on the whole screen or the wide cone on the whole screen or split the screen and see half a page of each. I wanted to get the x-15 and have one unit mounted on the dash. The only bad part is switching back and forth between screens. After seeing them perform right next to each other i had to go with the vexilar. hope this helps. Vexilar has a two year warranty, I don't know what lowerance has.

I have not seen the Vexilar but I do own the X-15. It's an awesome unit. Yes I did have to upgrade it twice but now there are no problems. The detail is amazing.

In my opinion, there is nothing out there today that can come close to the 107 khz side of the Edge. The target seperation is unmatched.

Not to confuse things but does anyone know how the LPG 2000 compares to the other 2 units?

My only knock on the 2000 is the bottom is always "Fuzzy". No mater what adjustments you make, you cannot clean it up. In my opinion, this fuzzy-ness is blinding you from seeing any fish on or close to the bottom. No seperation.

IMHO the Edge is the best sonar on the market today for ease of use and target seperation. The other post was dead on with the 107khz side of things. Total clarity at all times is awesome. My only gripe and it is a stretch is the bigger size of the transducers but once I got em set they are awesome. Also if you ever hook something with the transducers, you only break the outer shell not the transducer. Just replace the shell, a cheap fix.
