Normark is going to dis-continue clown in all lines. I don't know about you but this is one of my best colors. If we can send them a list of a couple thousand names that do not want them to discontinue this color maybe they will listen. It worked with the blue/white.
Does anyone know how to start an on-line pettion?

It appears that maybe PETA has bought Normark. God knows that what they are doing with the crank bait industry, they must be planning to dismantle the fishing industry bait, by bait. Communists !!!!!!!

You'll have to hit'em in the pocketbook. When they don't sell enough lures they'll realize they mucked up the sales strategy. Look what happened with the Risto Raps. When they couldn't sell'em for 7.00 bucks a peice, they ended up putting them all on sale to move out the backed up inventory. Don't buy anything now that you absolutely don't have to have. Let them sit on the shelves until Normark realizes they aren't getting enough new orders. That is the ONLY way they will change their sales strategy. IMHO. But what do I know, I'm not a Marketing Genius that thinks I can force you to buy something you don't want or didn't want "fixed".

As much as I love Shad raps and orig. raps, I honestly think that normark is getting dangerously close to an all out boycott by those of us that consider ourselves heavy duty fisherman. I don't know what the story is behind the discontinuation of the clown color, but my idea is that you can never have enough colors. I don't care if certain colors don't have the same profit as others, if fisherman want them, they should get them, that's marketing. Sometimes you have to sell something at a loss to get something else at a profit. I've honestly never done very well with the clown color, but I'm sure that many others consider my favorite chart/silver orig. raps to be a waste also. I think that's part of the reason that storm gained so many loyal followers, by selling a boatload of different lures in a rediculous number of colors, because that's what we wanted. If Normark is really interested in their long term viability as profit making company, they need to have more of an interest in what fishermen want than what they currently have. I don't mean to bash normark/rapala, and I honestly think that my post and all the other recent posts regarding this issue are constructive criticism. I am a fisherman, and I will use what works. I do have a few tots and raps that are magic, but I am quickly discovering that there are many other lures out there that will catch fish just as well.

It's too bad that marketing has to come between us and our favorite lures eh?

Eyez is correct with the reasoning that Storm had offered several different style baits with a very wide color pattern change by year and with catalog sales this works well. Rapala on the other hand was known for the originalty of their lures and product availablity standing by a long established color pattern and styles. It is obvious that Rapala has opted to go with the Storm venue of new product and catalog sales. The days of being able to go to any bait&tackle or party store and buy a rapala that lasts and in the established patterns is gone.
The smaller operations not buying the volume as such will proably carry less product now. The profit margin on originalty and function most not be there, and it was just in jest G.M. knows better than to quit building Corvettes.
