I'm looking at a non current Mariner 115 and had a couple of questions. I'm pretty sure a Mariner is just a repainted Mercury correct? Would there be any differences in the motors? I'm not sure what year it is but I'm sure it is brand new. Does anyone know the last year mariner would have been produced? Also are they a fairly reliable motor. I'm assuming it is the same as a carburated Merc 115 so it should be pretty solid. It seems like a pretty good price for the boat motor trailer combo so thats why I'm looking at this. The boat and trailer are non current as well. The package is about $5000 cheaper than the same boat with a 90 4 stroke on it.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it would be the same as what is known as a 2+2 Merc. Parts are interchangeable. They are a very dependable motor that can be a little finicky to start sometimes. You learn the starting drill and they are hard to beat. I have several friends with 125's and 115's (same motor) and they have all performed very well through many years of use.

I had one for two years and it served me well. A four stroke or DFI motor uses a little less gas, starts better and burns cleaner but the price is alot higher too.
