Anyone use the mast type planer boards that you just clip your fishing line to the board line and let it slide out to your desired location and run out more rods to just one big board per side. Or is everyone using the Off-Shore boards the you only put one line to and have to run multiple boards with ever rod.

Lot of guys have both. I've been running skis (big boards) for 11 years. There are times and places for each.

Hey Walleye Ranger,

I too use both styles of boards. I learned to use boards with the mast and ski's and find I can tell a fish hanging on much better on a towline than sideliners.

There are places for each, but either will work in many situations. The small in line boards are much more versitile, but I like the mast in open water, or high speeds with deep divers or hard pulling lures to narrow it down to it's simplest form.

Good luck....R

I use both like many of the people out there. If you are planning on using the in-line boards you need a little stiffer rods. The big advantage to in-line boards in my opinion is that you have less misses, can turn tighter corners, can set them up quicker. "Nofish" mentioned the advantages of the mast and ski set up. I have a fishing buddy that prefers the ski set-up. I think the in-lines are an improvement in most cases, but some people are resistant to change.
