View Full Version : Lake Oahe, South Dakota
Im planning a trip to Oahe the last weekend in Sept. and am wondering if anyone can give me some info on resorts, motels, and maybe some tips on where to find fish in late Sept. Looking for resorts with boat rentals. Thanks in advance!
Mike
I don't know of any resorts that would rent the type of boat you would need to fish Oahe. Maybe I guide would be about as cheap. kuip

kuip is right you probably won't find boat rentals. If your not familiar with Lake Oahe you should know you want real boat on this body of water. It can be dangerous. However it is also a good destination. A guide would solve your problem.
Give these places a call, they all do a good job.
1. Spring Creek
2. Lighthouse Point
3. Sunset Lodge
Good Luck.

Mike, I guide out of South Whitlock Bay on Lake Oahe, this is about 50 miles north of the dam at Pierre. There isn't any boat rentals on the lake, the reason being everything is controlled by the Corps of Engineers, and normally you need at least a 18' with a 150 hp on it to be able to handle the wind and waves that come up without notice. Also the lake in South Dakota is 230 miles long and you can easily get 30 miles from the closest boat ramp and with that big of a lake you can fish a long time with out finding the fish unless you know the lake pretty well. If you have any more questions contact me.

You will find that the Mobridge area is better in the fall. Yes, there are boat rentals in that area. You dont have to have a 18' with 150... Although that is nice to have. There are many areas right out of the marinas there that will good fishing. You do not have to make long runs up or down the river to find fish. Bridge City Bait and Marina
