The rear inside passenger side gunnel on my Lund Pro V LE 1900 is coming apart. I removed the back cover and inside stiping and it
appears screws/bolts&nuts? and/or rivets are missing. The one piece of lumber is no longer pushed back against the transom and it tilting in towards the passengers. Replacing the screws seems doable although difficult, anything I can do about the wood other than not standing on the gunnels anymore.

thanks

That plywood in there (runs horizontal w/ gunwale cover) is simply "backing" to screw into or to bolt through. (rod holders, downriggers, etc).
Those bolts behind the vinyl strip on the gunwale extrusion hold the vertical interior wall and the gunwale cover(aluminum skin) together. As I recall, that aluminum extrusion has many holes drilled in it, because the same extrusion is used on several models. Not all the holes get used. (different holes on different models). It may be possible that you aren't missing any, but, if you are -they can be replaced. They are SS bolts with nylock nuts, and do not attach to the wood.

From what you decsribed, you may not need repairs. That plywood backing doesn't quite reach to the transom in most instances, as it is primarily "backing" supported here and there by bracing along the length of the gunnel.

Or... I misunderstood your decsription.....

Okay, I understand.

FYI: The inside railing has come completely unfastened in the back.

I do not need screws in every hole just a few to refasten it. Leave the wood alone and reinstall rubber railing.

Remind buddy not to stand on gunnel since it is not designed to handle his weight.

Thanks

I guess I may have misunderstood, sorry. I was under the impression that the plywood backing was in question.
I'm not sure what you mean by "railing".
Do you mean the inside gunwale extrusion? The part with the removable vinyl strip down the middle?

Yes, that part has about 3 or 4 feet of it just hanging there. I thought the plywood backing was also coming apart, but it seems what I am seeing is normal?

Sorry, Jess....at this point, nothing about it sounds normal.

You'll have to take it by a dealer and have the service manager look at it, to see what came un-bolted.
