Looking for a mid-sized tiller and considering this unit. If any of you are running this boat I could use your input. For power I was thinking 75 Opti-Max or Merc 75 four-stroke. Thanks for any information.

I have the 2003 165 with 50 4 stroke honda and love it. I would max out the horse power and you should have a nice boat. Even my father likes it and he only runs Ranger or YarCraft, not that they are comparable to those but for the price it is a nice boat.
Good luck.

I recently bought a 2003 175 Magnum tiller with a 75hp Yamaha 4 stroke pushin it. It also has the merten power steering system on it ( AWESOME ! )I can't give you specifics as to speed etc but it does what I want it to and then some. All in all I'm very happy with it.

Thanks Guys: How much should this boat cost with a 4-stroke? What trailer would be a good choice? Thanks

I can't tell you anything about the boat, however I will address the motor. I have a Merc 75 4 stroke. It has a Yamaha powerhead and Merc lower unit. The motor has been virtually worry free for four years now. The only complaint I have is in the design of the tiller handle. The shifter is located back by the powerhead, which makes for a long reach at times. If you look at Yamaha or Suzuki, the shifter handle is located forward on the tiller arm, which is much more convenient, especially if you need to shift gears quickly. If possible, I would recommend looking at the Yamaha 75. It's virtually the same motor as the Merc and has a better tiller handle. Good Luck!

Depends on what motor size , trailer etc. Ballpark your looking at 16 -17 k. Max hp is almost always a good idea even if it stretches your budget a bit IMO. I have yet to meet the dude whose said GEE I wish I would have gone with less hp. LOL I really like the 75 Yammy 4stroke. Nice boat and I don't think you'll be disapointed if you decide to go with one.
