I have an Eagle Ultra portable that is about 5 yrs old with the transducer that sticks on the back of the transom. When you are sitting still or going about 3MPH it reads ok, but when you go to take off and are running it doesnt read correctly, it always says 300 ft. until you get back down to about 3 - 5 MPH, then it will lock back in and read the bottom. It has always been like this and I wanted to know if this is correct or if there is something wrong with it, other finders (permenant mount) that I have seen read correct at any speed. Any suggestion as to what may be the problem? Thanks

LK, I have the same unit and have the same problem consistently. In addition, it marks fish like crazy when you are moving over 3 mph. Do you have this problem also? Unit only costs about $120, what else can you expect?

I bought mine at Gander Mountain about 4 years ago. I don't think the price has changed much last time I saw them. It's an Eagle 128 and works great on fly-ins or carry-ins. Has a suction cup to mount the transducer to the boat.
