This has happened to me a couple of times. You take off at WOT and it just shuts down, no cutting out or anything.
It will start right up and run fine right after that, anyone else have this problem? It could get someone hurt if they were standing around that's for sure!

I was having the same problem on my Johnson "suzuki" 140. My problem turned out to be a bad impeller, it wasn't creating enough water pressure and causing the motor to overheat and go into "slow mode". Same as you, just shut down at WOT!

Birddog, you were getting some alarm messages on the console when this happened to your motor, were you not? I occasionly have the 'cut out problem at wot' as well but there are NO alarms whatsoever. It just stops. Almost threw my bud over the windshield last time it did it. Not fun.
This problem has been discussed here before but I wonder what the manufacturere has to say. Anybody ask? I'm gonna talk to my dealer next time I'm there.

I have a DF70 that had a similar problem. I could run all day at idle or slightly above, but at WOT I could only run for 20 seconds or so before the motor shut down completely (with no alarm whatsoever I might add). The manufacturer said my high speed fuel pump was toast and was correct. What was happening was my low speed fuel pump was fine, so when i went to WOT it used up more gass than the fuel system could supply.
Maybe your high speed fuel pump is on the way out??? Mine never gave me a chance, it just went.

My alarm only went off maybe 2 times, while the motor cut out numereous times. So my alarm didn't go off very often, It wasn't always overheating. From what I've been told, when these motors get stuck in "slow mode" you can't go over 3,500 RPM. It will shut you down. And It may not happen every time, Sometimes when you shut your motor off and restart it resets the computer, then your good to go for a while, until you hit that certain temp that will shut you down again. And around and around ya go!

My Johnson 140 did the same thing about six times just after I had 10 hours on the motor. I started checking the primer bulb everytime out. Even if I had just used it the day before. Priming it everytime seems to have cleared up the problem.
