Just have to vent ,Has anyone else had the micro switch in there motor guide for the foot switch go out ? Well mine went out while I was casting a wind swept shoreline this week and in the fish as well, I went home and trouble shoot the problem and found the switch was junk( good thing that I am a electro engineer) I replaced it and ended the problem, what I want to also know is if you all think I should charge them for the time as well as the part? I know the service center I would take it to would, just asking the good folk. thanks
What was your motor doing? I have a Motorguide that just shuts off when I try to use it. The motor spins to the rest position like it's suppose to when the foot pedal is shut off but won't respond when I mess with the foot pedal. I have a RF model 62pound thrust. I Don't know what to do. Thanks.

Had similar problems with my motor guide x 3. Have replaced it with new unit with mechanical cable control on steering. Previous unit was just a constant pain. Here's hoping.

I just replaced one of those cheezy switches on my buddy's "Johnson" troller. That switch is difficult to find and I am in the switch business,
After unsuccessfully searching for a replacement, I decided that since there were two sides to the switch, I would reverse the switch and use the normally unused set of contacts. It takes a little innovation but it works...JM
I used to have an RF (radio frequency) model too. It sucked - almost got blown into some rocks because it wanted to take a coffee break. It got taken off that day and I bought a new one. Even bought a Motor Guide again. This time though it was the ES (electric steer) model. This one works fine. MotorGuide must have admitted that the thing didn't work well enough and they provide an upgrade to convert it from RF to ES. I did this with the old one and it seems to work fine now - even got a new control pedal too. The old one wasn't too hot either. I do like my new one now. Everyone gets to screw up once in a while. I really like the Big Water Gator mount. I used to have a MinnKota - has that beat by a mile.

I was also told by a couple of others that there switch junked out this weekend, why can't they test them and find a better? Also I have the Big gator water mount and love it also the manual steer. My motor would turn on and go back to reset positon also it's a bad switch. The problem I had at first is that it would not shut of when I took my foot of the button than it just quite working if you would leave it alone it would spin back to reset and quit. It aslo blew my circuit breakers. Thanks for the impute, hope they fix this problem otherwise I love the motor.
