Ruff Guy say that 90 minutes west of LaCrosse puts you firmly into purple helmet territory...

Hello! Mille Lacs can provide good views of walleyes, pike, occasional muskie, tons of perch and the ever present smallies that come up fearlessly and chew on your gear. Try it in the morning before the wind comes up. Lots of fish on and near reefs topping out at 4 - 12'; bottom depths average around 22 - 30'. Bottom can get pretty silty if disturbed. You may have to wait for a while once you get to a spot; the eyes tend to spook and then return after a few minutes....

I'VE NEVER DONE IT, BUT HAVE TALKED TO ALOT OF PEOPLE DIVING @ PIERRE, SD BELOW THE DAM IN THE TAILRACE... THEY SAY THAT THERE ARE WALLEYES ALL OVER... THEY SAY SEPTEMBER WHEN THE WATER STARTS COOLING IS VERY GOOD.

Be careful at West Okoboji. Bring a good sharp knife with ya while under water. I guy drowed up there when got tangled in the heavy cabbage. He was just snorlking with no air tanks.
