Last week I posted about a fish kill on the east basin of Erie. Today they announced that the culprit is botulism. For the story.. http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20010829/1031846.asp
How come it is only in the eastern basin and not the western basin? Northeast marina this year stunk to high heavens. We have a fish die off just about every year. My opinion it is natures way of taking care of itself. This stinking gov. we have better start getting after these forgein ships and stop them from dumping their waste in our waters. If you get caught dumping anything it will cost you an arm and a leg. All I am going to do is enjoy my fishing and continue eating the walleye from Lake Erie. I do not believe nothing anymore what thse officials tell us about our enviroment. If the water is bad what about the air your breathing. I think that is where our problem is coming from.

Ray, I have to ask that you do much more than just enjoy your fishing. I work for one of those "stinking gov's" and believe me, we are NOT happy with the current situation, either. We have a 2-term state attorney general who was elected on the thought that there was no such thing as environmental crime. Her staff to enforce our laws has dwindled in size and their effectiveness hamered by ever-so-many more internal procedures. He right hand man got put in by the new governor as EPA director.
We need people who think the way you do to write letters to newspapers, campaign for candidates who will get the job done, and keep yelling until the message is heard. Will you do that?

Hey guys,
I read about so many local issues now that the internet has grown. Here in SD we could very well be losing some of the best duck producing habitat in the world if we allow our wetlands to be drained like MN has done. I've written those letters you speak of, but we as outdoors men and women have to learn to come together and stand tall to fight for what we believe in. I see MN and SD guys bickering all the time about non-resident fees ect... I'm not saying that issue isn't important, just an example of a divided front in our area. We're not going to get anything accomplished if we can't put our minor differences asside for the good of the cause. I think that starts with letters to our current administration and if they don't give us the results we want, then we find the candidate that will in the near future.
I'll get down off the soap box now. Thanks for listening!!

So how did a post about a possible serious outbreak of E botulism get turned into a string of posts of not beleiving anything the government says???
