Here in New York, everybody's favorite season opens on Saturday, May 6. I've read all the messages about hooks and motors and crankbaits and Al Gore...how about your plans for opening day, and why. It looks like we'll be headed to Eastern Lake Ontario with worm harnesses. Of course, last minute changes are possible (and the messages on this board could have something to do with them). This will be a long week at work. Thanks in advance.

I actually will be passing up the opener! Will be out 2nd weekend though. I don't get too excited yet as waters I fish don't seem to get hot till around Memorial Day. I fish Chautauqua and Ny waters of Erie. Good luck and save some of those Ontario hogs, I will be up for a week later this summer.

I agree, it's going to be a VERY long week at work. The weather should help it be a great opener. I'll be heading to Honeoye Lake and if previous patterns hold true, I should be able to get some nice fish. Nice for that lake is 3-6 pounds. According to friends, the post-spawn slow down is just ending.

Heading to the Oswego river to troll stickbaits. Hoping to land the big one this year. I was up brown trout fishing and 1 guy caught a 7 # eye while trolling easter weekend. So the big fish are there, hope they like ripsticks!!!!!!! I will be fishing the Oswego area for the first 3 weekends and then to Barcelona to fish for smallmouth and eyes for memorial week. Any help for erie would be great. Have a fun and safe opener to everyone. Jersey John

Only 3 guys fishing in New York this weekend! Where are all the New Yorkers hiding? Where are you all fishing for the opener?

Where will you be fishing on in the Eastern Basin? Black river bay, Chaumont bay, St. Larry river? Where ever, I wish you good luck. Caught some fish up there last year at night trolling in Chaumont Bay and Black river areas. I would like to try Henderson Harbor one weekend myself for day time trolling. Let me know how you make out, and have fun.
