I would love WC input on what you folks feel makes a good outdoor radio program. I would also like any web sites with good programs I could listen to thru the Web.
Questions???
1) Time of Week & Day- Is sunday eve long program (1/2 hour, plus 2-3 min M-F around 5:15 pm good?
2)Topics: Hunt, Fish, Camp, Equip, Politics/Policy
3)Call in?
Outdoor Reports?
Interviews?
Occasional Remote Broadcast?
Guests
If you have suggestions, input, idea's, I'd love it. Thanks in advance!

Todd:
Here are a few things that I think the majority of fishermen are interested.
1. Keep all locations that you cover reasonably close to the average Joe. Most people will never have the opportunity to fish mountain trout in Venezuala, or Peacock Bass on the Amazon. I know that most guys just love to get on a quiet stretch of river in anytown U.S.A., and fish for smallmouth, crappie, etc.. I think you get the message.
2. It's fine to conduct interviews with the big name anglers, but the local guys have a wealth of info also that often time gets overlooked because somebody who won a couple tourny's says you gotta do this to catch that. Don't overlook the local talent.
3. Make it interactive. Call-in shows would go over big I would think.
4. Don't cover the same old thing over, and over. A guy can only take so much of Largemouth on rubber worm.
5. Hunting, and fishing both need as much positive media as possible. I know that we have all heard this before, but I'm gonna say it again. If we don't protect our hunting rights, and keep the general public that does not hunt ( estimated at 85% by the W.L.F.A ) on our side and hunting is lost, The ink on the paper won't be dry, before they start hammering fishing more so than they already are.
6. As for timing, for radio, the majority of urban America, is held captive in their cars during morning, and evening rush hour. That way they can't go out and mow, or go to the flower garden.
Just my opinions, good luck, and if I can help you in any way, contact my agent. Just Kiddin'

One of my favorites is "Bear Facts & Fish Tales" on KSTP (1500 AM) at, I believe, 7 p.m. on Sundays. I've picked it up on my way home from fishing or hunting at the end of the weekend. Knowledgeable hosts, homespun humor, and call-in from local heroes is excellent information/entertainment.
I just wish it came in a little clearer in Nebraska, and that we had something similar in our neck of the woods.

Thanks for the comments!! Fantastic, just the stuff I'm looking for. Keep up the thought process, if you have something else, please post or email me. I also agree on the local slant, I would see "local" things being 90%. But if a guy could interview a Pro, manufacturer every so often and make sure you get applicable info out of them I think that would fly... I agree too many local sportsman are overlooked, one of the problems with local sportsman though is many of them don't want to give their "secrets" away so to speak.
My biggest worry is it doesn't interfere with my day job or fishing... lol.
One of the thoughts was a lot of sportsman are kicking back or driving home on Sunday night and that might be a good time for an expanded slot. A 2-3 minute show to be on in morn and eve drivetime (prev eve and next morn prob same material).
