Buy two things
1. A hook and a sliding sinker so that you can make a lindy rig.
2. Get some charturse jigs in weights ranging from 1/16 -1/2 oz

Buy a few fatheads and shiners, and possibly a few crawlers and go catch fish.

Take care

Depends on how you like to fish. Do you like to troll, jig, cast plugs, bobber fish? Do you have planner boards? Is drifting your thing? Is the lake you fish primerily sandy, muddy or rocky? Do you fish shallow or deep?

Each one of these can and do require a totally different type of tackle.

If you are going to jig and drift, then REW is right on the nuts. Get some chartruse, light blue, and some pumkinseed jig heads and try minnows or crawlers. Try adding some twister tails to the jigs and minnow/crawler for more color. Cover some ground with a Lindy or a spinner/crawler harness and a bottom bouncer or other heavier weight. Try casting some Raps into the shallows and around weedbeds. (find the holes in the weeds and work them from a few yards away) Most of all be flexible. If you mark fish and don't catch any, try different colors, presentations, boat speeds or a different spot all together.

When you catch some, mark the spot and determine the structure they were in. Try to locate similar spots on the lake and you could find the paturn for that day.

Good luck and have fun.
