The following website carries the Sunday Bismarck Tribune article on the final day of the Championship:
http://www.bismarcktribune.com/display/inn_newscurrent/nws-2.txt
Other articles on the PWT may be searched for at: http://www.bismarcktribune.com/ However I was unsuccessful in finding Fridays story (from day one) nor Saturdays story (from day two).
Congratulations Mike and Tami. Nice cover photo, great tourney and best wishes to you and your families.
Other funnies and stories I wish I could contribute here but due to lack of time will give just little bits and pieces and as you visit with these pros here on the chat site or out and about ask them the details.
Keith K. and Gary Parsons: Keith K getting the golden shovel award for launching his craft so high and dry that they had to leave it overnight on navigation day. Three boats and how many men to get it off??
Sheldon Meidinger getting the sportsman of the year award for coming to Rick Olsons rescue after Rick and his nephew were in an accident heading back to SD from NY PWT event. Rick and nephew(driver) totaled out truck and boat but escaped unharmed thank goodness.
Ron Seehloff and his sandbar adventure on day two of the launch. And his dogs not letting the volunteers into his tow vehicle to load him out on day two. AND on day one, is that a beaver or muskrat swimming in the river. NO it's my dog!!
And of course Tommy Skarlis down to his purple boxers again at yet another PWT championship. "What a horrible site" as one of his fellow anglers stated at the banquet.
And how 'bout this one. Mercury rep hands out two $10,000 checks, one to angler of the year Gary Gray for representing Mercury so well and ditto to Mike Gofron. Suprise, suprise!! These were monies over and above what Gary got from PWT and Mercury for angler of the year, and for what Mike received for winning the Championship. Way to go guys, representing your sponsor flawlessly has its rewards.
Maybe more stories when time allows. After all there are fish to be caught!!
