I'm thinking of coming to the Nov. get together and bringing a boat. However, I have relatively little experience operating a boat on the great lakes and even less when the conditions are not ideal. I have a sneaking suspicion that if the weather is calling for waves of 4 foot or over I would probably opt not to go out very far from shore, certainly not the 10 to 12 miles that I think people were running last year. That having been said, how far out did all of you fish last year? If its only a few miles, I would probably be comfortable doing that, but much farther than that and I think the weather may keep me on land. When it's all said and done I believe in the the saying that it is better to feel like an idiot on shore than actually being an idiot out in the lake under conditions I am not experienced in and can't handle. Any info anyone can share would be appreciated. Thanks.
